AHA PALS Classroom Course:
- For healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, as well as others who need an PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.
Classroom-based (instructor and video assisted) course:
The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. To enter the course, students must complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment. Throughout the course, students are presented with 12 In-hospital pediatric patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%. Topics include:
- High-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR
- Recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
- Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds
- Apply team dynamics
- Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure
- Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
- Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
- Early interventions for the treatment of shock
- Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
- Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
- Post–cardiac arrest management
The course Fee does NOT includes the Mandatory AHA PALS provider manual*:
- Contains all of the information students need to know to successfully complete the instructor-led, classroom PALS course. It is designed for use by a single student, and as a reference tool before, during, and after the course. The manual provides students access to a website containing mandatory and supplemental information and reference materials, including the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment (must pass with score of 70% or higher), to help them successfully complete the course.

For successful course completion:
students must demonstrate skills competency in all learning stations, pass the high-quality BLS skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, and the Megacode test. They also must pass the PALS exam with a score of 84% or higher (open book). Upon successful completion, students receive an AHA PALS course completion card.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
1. What is the classroom course?
The classroom course is the classic method of delivering PALS material via videos and instructor all in person.
2. Do I have to complete an online course before class? No. but you still have to complete the precourse self assessment prior to class.
3. How long is class? The class length can be anywhere between 6-12 hours depends on the number of learners enrolled and their relative experience with PALS.
4. Can I take BLS or ACLS same day? You can take BLS same day but ACLS must be taken on a different day. If you want to take ACLS and PALS in the same day then you need to take the courses in a blended format, please explore our blended course options.
5. Is the book provided? We provide books (manuals) in 2 methods ebook or paperpac. *Please see Understand your add-on list below.
6. How do I get the book? If you choose paperback manual you will be given the book in class, if you choose ebook you will be emailed an access code immediately upon registering.
