AHA ACLS Classroom Course (In-Person) for Initial Certification

Features the 2025 AHA Guidelines (Released Oct 21, 2025)

This fully in-person, instructor-led course is designed for:

  • First-time ACLS learners.

  • Providers whose ACLS card has been expired for more than 90 days.

  • Healthcare professionals who prefer a traditional classroom setting.

 

Who Should Attend

 

This course is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units (such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics), as well as others who require an ACLS course completion card for job or other requirements.

 

Course Content

 

This classroom-based (instructor and video) course instructs students to:

  • Apply the BLS, Primary, and Secondary Assessments sequence for a systematic evaluation of adult patients.

  • Perform prompt, high-quality BLS, including prioritizing early chest compressions and integrating early automated external defibrillator (AED) use.

  • Recognize and perform early management of respiratory arrest.

  • Discuss early recognition and management of ACS and stroke, including appropriate disposition.

  • Recognize and perform early management of bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome.

  • Recognize and perform early management of cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post-cardiac arrest care.

  • Model effective communication as a member or leader of a high-performance team.

  • Evaluate resuscitative efforts during a cardiac arrest through continuous assessment of CPR quality, monitoring the patient’s physiologic response, and delivering real-time feedback to the team.

  • Recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance.

  • Discuss how the use of a rapid response team or medical emergency team may improve patient outcomes.

  • Define systems of care.

 

Course & Material Requirements

 

1. Mandatory Precourse Self-Assessment (Included)

All learners must complete the ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and pass with a score of 70% or higher before attending the class. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to the assessment and detailed instructions.

 

2. Mandatory AHA ACLS Provider Manual (Not Included)

The course fee does NOT include the required 2025 AHA ACLS Provider Manual. All students must have the manual for use before, during, and after the course. You may choose either a paperback or an eBook version.

Completion & Certification

 

To successfully complete this course, students must:

  • Demonstrate skills competency in all learning stations.

  • Pass the high-quality BLS skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, and the Megacode test.

  • Pass the open-book ACLS exam with a score of 84% or higher.

Certification Card: Upon successful completion, you will receive your AHA ACLS Provider Course Completion eCard via email.

CME Credits: Not available for this activity.

1. What is the ACLS Classroom Course?

This is the traditional, fully in-person course where all material is delivered by an instructor and through videos in a classroom.

2. Do I have to complete an online course before class?

No, this is not a blended learning course. However, you must complete the mandatory ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment online before attending.

3. How long is the class?

The class length is typically 8-10 hours. This duration can vary based on the number of students enrolled and their relative experience levels, and may be held over one or two days.

4. Can I take BLS or PALS on the same day?

  • BLS: Yes. You can add the BLS certification to this course during registration.

  • PALS: No. PALS must be taken on a different day. If you wish to take ACLS and PALS on the same day, please explore our blended (HeartCode) course options.
